Anti-Internet Poker Propaganda Sent Through Mail To Pennsylvania ResidentsAdelson-Backed Group Trying To Stop I-Poker Momentum In State |

The Sheldon Adelson-backed Coalition to Stop Internet Gambling is sending out mail in Pennsylvania that contains anti-online poker propaganda, according a representative from the Poker Players Alliance, a lobbying group on Capitol Hill.
The bulk mails cites a discredited poll that claimed nearly three in four Pennsylvanians are against the state regulating online gaming. The Keystone State is currently home to three separate pro-online poker bills, and one bill that seeks to ban online poker.
In the wake of the poll that one lawmaker in Pennsylvania says was framed to get the intended anti-online gaming results, a new poll released this week found that actually 58 percent of voters support Pennsylvania legalizing and regulating online gaming, as compared to 26 percent who aren’t in favor of it. Pennsylvania is one of several states currently considering the industry.
The mailer also inaccurately states that online gaming isn’t already present in Pennsylvania. Americans can still access some sites based in foreign countries, and so supporters of the industry think Pennsylvania should regulate its own sites to keep the money within its borders.
