With California online poker efforts possibly dead for the remainder of 2015 to basically no one’s surprise, the state of Pennsylvania is by far the most likely out of any jurisdiction in America to legalize and regulate the virtual version of the card game next.

Six proposals pertaining to online casino games are currently being discussed in the state, and on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. EST lawmakers in the Senate Community, Economic & Recreational Development Committee will meet to mull over the issue.

Some of the online gaming proposals being pushed would make other changes to the state’s already robust casino gambling industry. Even though it would seem to complicate online poker discussions, including web poker legalization in a larger bill that would make other desirable changes in the eyes of the casino industry actually increases I-poker’s chances.

Senators Kim Ward and Sean Wiley head the committee and both support regulating online poker.

Several meetings have been held this year to talk about online poker in Pennsylvania. The sheer number of proposals, along with a newspaper in Pennsylvania’s capital city calling for online poker immediately, indicates that there is a lot of momentum right now.

Also, a recent poll found roughly 60 percent of state voters support web poker regulation.

It has been estimated that overall gaming revenue in Pennsylvania could eventually increase by roughly 10 percent should online gaming come into the mix.
