The latest $1,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament at the 2015 World Series of Poker drew a massive field of 1,915 players, creating a total prize pool of $1,723,500. After the final hand had been dealt, it was 26-year-old Toronto, Canada native Sam Greenwood who was the last man standing, earning his first bracelet and the $318,977 first-place prize.

“Things really worked out for me tonight,” Greenwood admitted. “I won most of my pre-flop all-in raises, my made hands got paid off, that’s what it takes to win one of these. When I’m playing, I’m in the zone. I’m not thinking about the bracelet.”

Greenwood, who has final table appearances on both the World Poker Tour and European Poker Tour, now has more than $1.4 million in lifetime live tournament earnings. His biggest score came earlier this year in January when he took sixth in the $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller at the PCA for $396,920.

Greenwood’s twin brother Lucas also plays poker and his other brother Max won a WSOP bracelet back in 20089.

Other notables who made deep runs in the event included Paul Darden (19th), Nacho Barbero (18th), Ryan Tepen (17th), Lisa Hamilton (15th), Stephen Chidwick (14th), Sean Rice (6th), John Myung (5th) and Ken Weinstein (3rd).
