A total of 1,376 entries were made in the 2015 World Series of Poker Circuit Horseshoe Hammond $1,675 no-limit hold’em main event, building a prize pool of $2,064,000. The top 153 players made the money in this event but in the end the last player standing was Krzysztof Stybaniewicz.
“This means everything to me,” Stybaniewicz told WSOP.com reporters. “I have a lot of friends that have had a lot of success. These guys are constantly making final tables and I’m kind of on the sidelines. It was nice to have the roles be reversed for once."
For the win the 26-year-old from Denver, CO was awarded $356,043 and 960 Card Player Player of the Year points. This was his first final table of 2015, and this win alone was enough to move him inside the top 300 in the rankings.
Coming in dramatically higher in the POY standings was the runner-up in this event, Joe Kuether. The Wisconsin native earned $220,848 and 800 POY points for his eleventh final table finish of the year. As a result he climbed into second place in the overall standings with 5,658 total POY points and year-to-date earnings of $1,986,272.
Overcoming a player like Kuether to secure the title made the win even more special for the champ.
“To beat Joe heads up is even more special because of the run he’s been on in the last year and a half,” said Stybaniewicz. “He’s obviously one of the best live tournament players in the world.”
