A Buddhist monk from Louisiana who was ordered earlier this year to stand trial for gambling away more than $200,000 in temple funds has been sentenced to prison.

According to a report from Nola.com, Khang Nguyen Le was sentenced Monday to 30 months behind bars. He had pleaded guilty to wire fraud after some initial confusion over his plea deal.

The 36-year-old Le must also pay full restitution, the judge said, in addition to facing possible deportation to Vietnam upon being released from prison.

Le’s game was blackjack at L’Auberge Casino in Lake Charles, and he would spend up to $10,000 a session. The gambling took place between January 2013 and August 2014. The report said that Le would try to gamble in parts of the casino where it was less likely he would be seen.

Prior to the scandal, Le had been president, presiding monk and resident of the temple of the Vietnamese Buddhist Association of Southwest Louisiana.
