Poker rooms in the state of Maryland raked roughly $3.1 million from players during the month of July, according to figures released by state regulators. The amount brings year-to-date revenue to $20.5 million.
The $3.1 million was the most in a few months for the state, but it was less than the $3.19 million raked in July 2015. Through the first seven months of 2016, poker revenue is about $500,000 less than during the same period last year.
Three of the state’s five casinos—Hollywood Casino Perryville, Maryland Live and Horseshoe Baltimore—have poker rooms. Maryland Live and Horseshoe Baltimore have 52 and 25 poker tables, respectively. Hollywood’s poker room has eight tables. Later this year, a $1.3 billion casino from MGM will open at National Harbor. That casino hasn’t yet announced its poker plans.
The poker rooms raked $2.48 million in June, which followed $2.9 million in May. April had poker revenue of $3 million. March’s $3.24 million is the high point of the year so far.
