The owner of the World Series of Poker is eyeing a project in Toronto, according to media reports. Caesars Entertainment Corp. is one of the firms bidding for the casino.

According to SBC News, officials approved Toronto for Canada’s largest casino to date. In July of last year, Toronto’s government gave the green light, which came after years of failed attempts to bring such a complex to the city.

Several years ago, MGM Resorts International, Las Vegas Sands and Wynn Resorts were also interested in Toronto for development. The casino discussions were controversial at the time.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, which will manage the new casino in Toronto, is expected to pick a winning bidder by next summer.

Caesars’ interest in Toronto comes despite a complicated Chapter 11 bankruptcy process involving one of its subsidiaries and $18 billion worth of debt. Just recently, the company’s mobile games business was sold off for $4 billion.
