Detroit’s three casinos reported $112.2 million in gaming win for the month of September, according to figures released this week by the state Gaming Control Board.
Revenue for September was 4.3-percent higher than September 2015, but it was 3.2-percent below August revenue.
For the third quarter, citywide gaming revenue was up by 5.1 percent compared with the same period last year. Year-to-date aggregate gaming win was 1.7-percent higher than during the first nine months of last year.
The casinos won $1.37 billion last year, which reversed a downward trend that persisted since 2011’s $1.42 billion in gaming revenue.
MGM’s monthly revenue increased 7.2 percent to $48.5 million when compared with September 2015 results. MotorCity revenue was up 3.6 percent to $37 million, and Greektown revenue of $26.7 million was nearly unchanged year-over-year.
Michigan received $9.1 million in gaming taxes from the three Detroit casinos in September compared with $8.7 million for the same month last year. The casinos paid $17.8 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to Detroit during September.
In addition to commercial gambling, Michigan’s tribal gaming industry, which includes more than 22,000 gambling machines spread across 23 casinos, is worth about $1.5 billion annually.
