The 225 poker tables in Pennsylvania raked a combined $5.02 million from players in December, according to figures from state gaming regulators.
The revenue brought 2016’s total to $58.6 million, about $1 million more than revenue generated in calendar year 2015.
In December 2015, the poker rooms generated $4.93 million in revenue.
The relatively flat poker market mirrored the overall 2016 casino gambling market. Last year, the state’s 12 casinos won a combined $3.2 billion from gamblers. It was a record amount, but it was just a 1.25 percent year-over-year gain.
There are about 1,200 table games and 26,000 slot machines statewide.
In an effort to boost casino industry revenue, Keystone State lawmakers are set to debate a new online gambling bill this year. The state estimates that online casinos could add about 10 percent to the existing gambling market.
A similar plan didn’t gain enough traction last year in the Pennsylvania Senate.
