A sold-out field of 100 women attended the first ever World Series of Poker Ladies Academy, and 10 of them walked away with the opportunity to win a bracelet in the $1,000 buy-in ladies event starting June 10 at noon.

Annie Duke, Jennifer "Jennicide" Leigh, Alex "The Insider" Outhred, Karina Jett, and former FBI agent and non-verbal tells specialist Joe Navarro were the instructors. Participants who attended the two-day academy were treated to live hand demonstrations, in-depth seminar, and interactive workshops.

The women were then given the chance to use what they had learned at the academy to compete for seats into the ladies event. The following 10 women won their spot into the tournament:

Stacy Kopacz - Hopkinsville, Kentucky

Tracy Yochim - Middletown, New Jersey

Cari Jewett - Boise, Idaho

Ellen Troncin - Antioch, California

Gladys Landegger - Tarzana, California

Stephanie James - Honolulu, Hawaii

Susie Posnock - Oak Park, Illinois

Robin Slade - Wheaton, Illinois

Lisa Torres - Fort Gratiot, Michigan

Antoinette Septer - Bensalem, Pennsylvania

Stacy Kopacz and Susie Posnock are no strangers to poker but appreciate the academy and are both excited to compete in the event.

"I have been to the WSOP academy before as well as Joe Navarro's seminars. It is so different learning in person than from a book or television," Kopacz said. "And Annie Duke is amazing!"

"I've played in pretty large events before and been very successful but I'm just really excited to use what I've learned in the ladies event," said Posnock.

CardPlayer.com will have all of the WSOP ladies event updates.
