With Resorts World and The Drew set to open in 2020, the Las Vegas Strip will have its first casino openings since the Cosmopolitan opened in 2010. Downtown Las Vegas, however, is making some additions of their own.

Last week, Derek and Greg Stevens, the developers behind The D and Golden Gate Casinos, announced that they will open Circa Resort and Casino in December 2020.

It will become the first ground-up casino built on Fremont Steet since 1980.

Construction on the 777-room hotel and its adjoining casino will start next month on the northwest corner of the Fremont Street Experience. The resort is supposed to combine the history of Downtown Las Vegas with its more modern Strip counterparts.

“You’ll see Vegas Vickie in her full grandeur inside Circa, right after getting dropped off at Garage Mahal,” said Derek Stevens at the announcement.

‘Vegas Vickie’ is the neon statue of a scantily clad cowgirl that sat above Fremont Street for several decades. She was a part of the Downtown Las Vegas skyline since 1980 and was taken down in 2017, before finding her new home at Circa.

Circa’s main attraction will be its sportsbook, which is slated to be one-of-a-kind with three stories and the ‘biggest screen in sportsbook history.’ The resort will also have a two-level casino, six different pools, five restaurants and the longest outdoor bar on Fremont Street.

Once the 44-story hotel tower is finished, Circa will become the tallest building north of the Strip.
