Hard Rock Casino in Atlantic City opened their sportsbook on Wednesday, opening up an in-person and online sportsbook in time for residents of New Jersey to place bets on Super Bowl.
They were approved by the state’s gaming commission for a soft play last week and opened up the real deal just three days before the New England Patriots square off against the Los Angeles Rams.
The newest Atlantic City casino became the eighth of the nine in the city to open a sportsbook. It will likely be the last. Caesars is the only casino in the city without one, but does not have any plans to open one and is physically connected to Ballys, which does have one.
“We couldn’t be more excited to launch our online and land-based sportsbook, providing our guests and players the opportunity to bet on football’s biggest game this weekend,” Hard Rock president Joe Lupo told The Press of Atlantic City. “Players will be able to enjoy a full range of bets on the game, as well as all other major sporting events across the calendar with exciting promotions and events coming soon.”
The company that owns the casino is in an agreement with the NFL’s Miami Dolphins to name the stadium after the Hard Rock casinos in Florida and now New Jersey. The deal with the Dolphins is what delayed the casino, built where the former Trump Taj Mahal was located, from entering New Jersey’s legal sports betting market.
Hard Rock has partnered with Gaming Innovation Group to help run their live and online sportsbook.
This year will be the first full year of sports betting in New Jersey since it became fully operational and legal in the state last June. In 2018, the state’s sportsbooks took $1.24 billion in wagers from gamblers.
