Day 1C At World Series Of Poker Main Event Sees Largest Field And Euro Numbers Swell

On day 38 at the World Series of Poker, 1,743 players took to the felt at the Rio Casino, Las Vegas, among them dozens of players from across the Atlantic Ocean.

Katja Thater, Ciaran O'Leary, Andreas Krause, Per Ummer, Jeff Kimber, Paul 'Actionjack' Jackson, Rory Matthews, Jonas Molander, Peter Evans, John Gale, Rolf Slotboom, Davood Merhmand, Fabrice Soulier, Stuart Fox, Ben Roberts, Mick McCloskey, Paul Lecky, and Thomas Nolan were a few of the representatives aiming for glory along with scores more from across the European continent.

The day also saw many of the top U.S. players and celebrities step out, including TJ Cloutier, David Sklansky, Men 'The Master' Nguyen, Chris Ferguson, Mike 'The Mouth' Matusow, Chris Moneymaker, Phil Ivey, Jason Alexander, Jose Canseco, and pop star Nelly.

Recent bracelet winner from Germany Katja Thater was a prominent casualty, as were Davood Merhmand and Paul Lecky.

Thater, a Team PokerStars member, features in the upcoming European edition of Card Player.
