A Tale of Two Series

We caught up with Marco Traniello and Jennifer jHarman ust after Marco had qualified for the final table in Event #50, $10,000 pot-limit Omaha.

Card Player: So I think we can anticipate the answer to this question, but how is your World Series going right now?

Marco Traniello: Good. This is my third final table.

[Traniello finished fifth for $156,000.]

CP: Have you played as much as you anticipated playing?

MT: No. In the beginning I was in Italy and I came late, so I missed some events. But the first two events I played I went to the final table.

[Event #4, $1,500 pot-imit hold'em (ninth place); event #11 $5,000 seven-card stud (eighth place).]

MT: I have gone far every day; I have only had one short day. That is very good for me. Most events I have played at least late on day two.

CP: How have the accommodations for the Series been this year?

MT: We have the private parking and the VIP suite;all of this has made the Series very, very comfortable.

[Accompanying Traniello late that night was his spouse, Jennifer Harman, so we asked about her Series.]

CP: How as the Series gone for you this year?

Jennifer Harman: Oh Yikes! Not as good as Marco. I'm not doing so hot. I am doing much better in cash games over at Bellagio. I mean much, much better in cash games.

CP: As far as Harrah's and the Series, what have they done well and what needs attention?

JH: Like Marco said, the VIP parking and the VIP room where we can chill out on the breaks and not just wander the halls; those are great. That is unbelievably helpful. They are trying to make it the best tournament, they are listening to us, trying to make next year even better, and that's a really big plus. They are listening to the players.

A few things need to be changed, the limit structures need work. A few changes here and there. Each year it will get better.

[Traniello played day 1A of the main event and Harman played day 1B but, unfortunately, neither advanced to day 2.]
