The first-ever World Poker Tour Online Series is running from May 10-31, 2020 on partypoker. The series is centered around a trio of marquee events: the $5,000,000 guaranteed WPT Online Championship which runs May 10-20, the $3,000,000 guaranteed WPTDeepStacks Online event that will close out the series on May 18-27, and the $2,000,000 guaranteed WPT500 Online event which took place from May 3-12.
The WPT500 Online wrapped up Tuesday, May 12. The event drew a total of 4,828 entries to blow away the guarantee and create a final prize pool of $2,414,000. Nine days after the first digital cards were dealt, Germany’s Fabio Sperling emerged victorious with the title and the top payout of $281,126.
The final day began with Italy’s Treccarichi in the chip lead, with Sperling close behind. Sperling overtook the lead heading into five-handed play. Recent WPT Germany main event champion Christopher Putz was poised to overtake the chip lead when he called the all-in of Markus Prinz with KK. He was ahead of Prinz’s QQ preflop, but the AQ5 flop gave Prinz a set for the lead. The 3 turn and 2 river secured the double up for Prinz. Despite taking that massive hit to his stack, Putz was still able to outlast fellow short-stack Philipp Dietrich, who finished fifth for $74,786.
The final four players ultimately struck a deal that saw Sperling awarded the largest payout and the title as the chip leader at the time. Check out the full list of payouts from the final table below:
