Nicholas ‘MrFinalT’ Kiley outlasted a massive field of 2,155 entries to win the 2020 World Series of Poker Online $500 buy-in no-limit hold’em ‘Summer Saver’ event. For the win the New York native resident earned his first WSOP gold bracelet and the top prize of $149,245. This was the biggest recorded tournament score for Kiley, who had around $55,000 in live tournament earnings heading into this series.
With 1,484 players and 671 re-entries made in this event the prize pool swelled to $969,750. The top 330 players made the money, with a minimum payday of $776 awarded to those that cashed. Among the biggest names to make a deep run in this event were recent bracelet winner Raymond ‘Avant9201’ Avant (266th – $873), three-time bracelet winner Ben ‘WhyIsGamora’ Yu (260th – $873), 15-time bracelet winner Phil ‘Lumestackin’ Hellmuth (216th – $873), six-time bracelet winner Daniel ‘DNegs’ Negreanu (183rd – $970), bracelet winner and event 24 runner-up finisher Ryan ‘adopt_adogg0’ Leng (102nd – $1,261), Chris ‘Robotbob47’ Moorman (92nd – $1,258), four-time bracelet winner Brian ‘tsarrast’ Rast (87th – $1,455), three-time bracelet winner and 2015 world champion Joe ‘fanofdapoker’ McKeehen (57th – $2,230), and Roland’prngls12’ Israelashvili (39th – $3,103), who was making his 13th cash in this series.
Ofir ‘panda15’ Mor was eliminated in ninth place before the remaining players converged on the final table. He got his last chips in with pocket queens from the big blind, calling all-in against the K3 of Matt ‘berkey11_s4y’ Berkey, who had shoved from the cutoff. Mor flopped middle set, but Berkey turned a flush to take the lead. The river was a blank and Mor was sent to the virtual rail with $12,316.
Berkey entered the final table as the chip leader, with Weiyi ‘wymoney’ Mo and Kiley sitting on the next largest stacks. Kiley nearly pulled even with Berkey after knocking out Michael ‘ha8me’ Policastro. With a board of Q338 Policastro moved all-in and was called by Kiley, who had flopped trips with his A3. The river was no help to Policastro, and his run came to an end in eighth place ($15,904).
Richard ‘Daddyp69’ Perrin got all-in preflop with 55, shoving from the cutoff for just shy of 13 big blinds. Berkey woke up with AA in the small blind and made the call. The board didn’t improve either hand and Perrin was knocked out in seventh place, earning $20,850.
Two-time WSOP Circuit ring winner Kevin ‘SpecialK333’ Calenzo ran AQ into the AK of Mo preflop. Both players made aces and fives by the river, but Mo’s superior kicker earned him the pot. Calenzo was awarded $27,638 for his sixth-place showing.
Berkey entered five-handed action as the chip leader, but Kiley was able to overtake the top spot on the leaderboard as play continued. Berkey lost a sizable pot with flopped two pair that ran into the top set of Guo Liang ‘Ct188’ Chen to fall to the back of the pack. He ultimately got his last ten or so big blinds in with J9 from the button. Kiley called with K10 and flopped trip tens to take a dominant lead. Berkey was drawing dead after a blank on the turn, and was eliminated in fifth place. He earned $36,851 for his second final-table showing in as many days. Berkey had finished seventh in the $400 no-limit hold’em eight max event just a day earlier.
Stephen ‘’S.Dot22’ Russo finished in fourth place when his KQ failed to improve against the A8 of Kiley. The board brought several middling cards that resulted in Kiley making a nine-high straight on the river to lock up the pot. Russo cashed for $49,554 for making it down to the final four.
Weiyi ‘wymoney’ Mo went for a stop-and-go play with pocket threes, but her her opponent Chen had flopped a pair and a straight draw with 96 on a 1076 board. Chen called and his pair of sixes held through the turn and river. Mo was awarded $67,301 as the third-place finisher.
With that Chen took 23.6 million into heads-up play with Kiley, who had 19.5 million. Kiley was able to battle his way into the lead by the time the final hand of the event was dealt. Kiley picked up K10 on the button and min-raised to 800,000. Chen three-bet to 2,475,000 from the big blind with AJ and Kiley called to see a flop of K44. Chen bet 2,125,000 and Kiley made the call with his kings and fours. The 8 on the turn gave Chen the nut flush draw. He check-called a bet of 5,050,000 from Kiley and the J completed the board on the river. Chen checked a second time and Kiley moved all-in. Chen went into the tank and ultimately made the call. Kiley had the better two pair to secure the pot and the title. Chen earned $92,223 as the runner-up finisher.
