Americas Cardroom brought back Venom this summer, increasing the guarantee to a massive $7 million as part of the ongoing OSS Cub3d online poker tournament series.
The lofty expectations were justified when a whopping 3,872 entries were made in the $2,650 buy-in event, shooting past the guarantee for a total prize pool of $9,680,000.
The tournament featured four starting flights, the first of which began on July 24. The field combined on Aug. 3, and played three more days before determining a champion.
The final table featured players from all over the world, including the United Kingdom, Croatia, Portugal, Austria, Mexico, and the United States.
The winner was slated to receive more than $1.5 million, but a deal made during heads-up play secured a little more money for the two competitors.
In the end, it came down to a bit of a cooler. On a flop of 7

3, forrestranfar got the rest of his stack in holding A 5 against the K K of TRT-Vitor.
Despite having the overpair, TRT-Vitor was still vulnerable to forrestranfar’s nut flush draw, straight draw, and overcard. In fact, according to the Card Player Poker Odds Calculator, the draw was actually a slight favorite at just over 52 percent.

and J, however, and the title went to TRT-Vitor.
