A new Philadelphia casino announced it will open its doors next month.

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia will hold its official grand opening on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m., pending approval from the state gaming regulators. The newest addition to the Pennsylvania casino market will be located in the Stadium District in Downtown Philadelphia.

The casino will join Rivers Casino Philadelphia as the second casino with the city limits, and become the fourth casino in the greater Philadelphia area. Harrah’s Philadelphia is located just south of Philadelphia in Chester and Parx Casino is just north of the city in Bensalem.

Live! Casino, which has a sister property in Maryland, announced in its press release that it will have a 29-table poker room inside its 510,000 square-foot property. All four Philadelphia casinos will have poker rooms.

Along with poker, the casino will have more than 2,100 slots and electronic table games, 150 table games, a 12-story hotel, a six-room event center and a FanDuel-operated sportsbook.

The announcement comes just as Gov. Tom Wolf allowed his state’s casino market to reopen earlier this week after a second shutdown that lasted three weeks in response to rising COVID-19 cases in the Keystone State.

“We are beyond excited to go Live! in Philadelphia and bring this world-class gaming and entertainment destination to the heart of the Stadium District,” said Joe Billhimer, Executive Vice President of Cordish Gaming Group. “What we have created here is unrivaled anywhere in the country. Sports fans, foodies, gaming enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a night of fun and excitement only has to make one stop to experience it all.”

The new casino is expected to generate $100 million worth of tax revenue in the first five years, with $25 million of that going to Philadelphia public schools.
