Photo By Sean Benefiel The Legends Poker Room in Houston, Texas was nearly the victim of an armed robbery by a man carrying an AR-15.

Police in the city reported that a security guard at the poker room tackled the would-be robber. The gun went off, but no one was hit.

Khou.com reported that the incident happened shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday. “Initially it was reported that multiple people may have been shot,” the report said. Fortunately that didn’t turn out to be the case. It doesn’t appear anyone needed medical attention.

Police showed up at the scene and arrested the man whose name hasn’t been released. The security guard who reportedly stopped the gunman is Trelynn ‘Tek’ Robinson, per reports.

“And he was asking me to give him the money. But instead, I lunged towards him, fought him, wrestled him with the gun, it started to go off,” Robinson told ABC13. “A couple things happened. I was able to tackle him down and put the handcuffs on him, arrest him.”

Robinson is being hailed as a hero for his actions, and a GoFundMe has been set up in his honor to help with medical bills.

From the Khou.com report:

Investigators said the suspect entered the front door of the poker room armed with a rifle and told everyone he was holding up the place. The security guard was able to get around the gunman, and they started fighting over the rifle, police said. That is when the rifle went off several times before the guard and others were able to subdue the gunman. There were around 45 to 50 people inside the business at the time of the incident.
