One of Detroit’s casinos is getting a makeover.
Penn National Gaming announced that Greektown Casino-Hotel will soon be called Hollywood Casino at Greektown, per a report from M Live.
There will be a $30 million renovation of the 400-room hotel, along with a new design for the casino gaming floor.
“Becoming Hollywood Casino at Greektown will offer our guests the best of both worlds. We’re keeping all of the unique, neighborhood charm that has defined Greektown since we opened our doors, while adding several new amenities that come with being a part of Penn National’s flagship brand family,” said John Drake, GM of Hollywood Casino at Greektown.
The casino opened in November 2000.
The changes to the casino could help the property gain some market share in Detroit. According to state figures from March, Greektown had just 21% of the Detroit casino gambling market, with MGM Grand Detroit with 46% market share and MotorCity Casino with 33%.
The three Detroit casinos reported $122.86 million in monthly aggregate revenue for March. Table games and slots generated $120.93 million in revenue, and retail sports betting produced $1.93 million in revenue.
