The 2022 World Series of Poker is in the home stretch, with just a handful of bracelet events remaining before the 53rd Annual WSOP wraps up. One of the final big-field no-limit hold’em events on the schedule was the $777 buy-in ‘lucky 7’s’ event. A total of 6,891 entries were made by the time registration close, building a prize pool of $4,711,790 that was ultimately paid out among the top 989 finishers.

After three starting flights and two more days of action, a French player who asked to remain anonymous emerged victorious with the title and the top prize of $777,777.

Plenty of big names made deep runs in this event, including four-time bracelet winner Ben Yu (72nd – $5,000), bracelet winner and World Poker Tour champion James Mackey (41st – $12,670), bracelet winner Santiago Soriano (22nd – $19,560), bracelet winner and Mike Takayama (16th – $24,620).

The final day began with nine players remaining. Christopher Farmer was in the lead, with the eventual winner in sixth chip position. Paul De La Soujeole was the first to fall, with his A-7 running into the A-9 suited of five-time bracelet winner Allen Cunningham. De La Soujeole was unable to come from behind and was eliminated in ninth place ($51,590). Braxton Hughes (8th – $51,590) then ran A-6 into the pocket sevens of James Hughes to narrow the field to seven.

Cunningham’s run in this event came to an end when his A-10 suited was unable to hold up against the Q-10 suited of the eventual champion. A queen on the flop and another on the river saw Cunningham eliminated in seventh place ($66,777). The 45-year-old poker pro now has more than $11 million in career tournament earnings.

Rodney Turvin then scored a pair of knockouts, busting Kyle Miholich (6th – $87,777) and Jed Stewart (5th – $116,777) to take the lead into four-handed play.

James Hughes was the next to be knocked out. He shoved with K-7 from the small blind and Farmer called with 10-9 in the big blind. Farmer turned a pair of tens and held from there to send Hughes home with $154,777.

Turvin surged back into the lead when his A-K held up against the K-Q of Farmer with all of the chips having gone in preflop. Neither player improved on a ten-high runout and Farmer was eliminated in third place ($207,777).

Heads-up play began with Turvin holding roughly a 2:1 chip lead. The eventual champion picked off a bluff from Turvin to regain the lead. In the final hand, the winner raised on the button with AHeart Suit10Diamond Suit and Turvin moved all-in holding ASpade Suit6Spade Suit. The champion called and the board ran out 10Club Suit7Club Suit5Heart Suit5Club Suit9Club Suit to give the winner tens and fives with an ace kicker. Turvin was awarded $400,777 as the runner-up finisher.

Here is a look at the payouts and rankings points awarded at the final table:
