Las Vegas-based MGM Resorts announced Tuesday that it has deepened its relationship with the National Football League.

According to MGM, it has inked a “multi-year partnership extension” with the NFL, becoming one of the league’s “official sportsbook partners” in Canada.

MGM launched its online gambling product in the province of Ontario in April, after legislation was enacted to permit the offering. Both online sports betting and online casino gambling are regulated in Ontario.

“Expanding our partnership with the NFL into Canada sets the stage for amazing opportunities as we begin the upcoming football season,” said BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt. “We’re already seeing great interest from our Ontario customers and this collaboration truly elevates the BetMGM experience.”

As a part of the marketing deal, MGM now has the rights to use official NFL marks in Canada and advertise on NFL-operated digital platforms throughout the region.

“We are thrilled to be working with BetMGM in Canada as an Official Sportsbook Partner,” said Gavin Kemp, Senior Director of Corporate Partnerships, NFL Canada. “BetMGM delivers a unique gaming platform to this emerging market and will enhance the NFL fan experience in Canada in new and innovative ways.”

In 2021, MGM became an approved sports gambling partner of the NFL, which led to the casino operator placing TV ads in NFL game broadcasts.

MGM’s online sportsbook trails market leaders FanDuel and DraftKings, but the gap between BetMGM and DraftKings appears to be closing.
