Artsiom Lasouski Wins Triton Montenegro $40,000 Mystery Bounty Event

Belarus’ Artsiom Lasouski made his debut on the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series tour at the ongoing stop at Maestral Resort & Casino in Montenegro. While the 25-year-old failed to cash in the first two events of the series, he managed to bounce back in a big way by emerging victorious in event no. 3, the $40,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em mystery bounty tournament.

Lasouski overcame a field of 151 entries to secure the title and the top payout of $669,000 from the main prize pool. Half of the $6,040,000 was set aside for Mystery bounties, which will be drawn a day after play concluded. Lasouski has 12 bounties to cash in.

“I am very excited about this moment,” Lasouski told Triton reporters via translator after closing out the victory. “I can’t believe how great it is.”

This win was by far the largest live poker score yet for Lasouski, easily surpassing the $63,000 he secured for a final-table finish in a $2,200 buy-in event at the Mediterranean Poker Party festival just eight days earlier. He now has nearly $872,000 in recorded scores to his name.

When the field combined onto a single table, Lasouski sat in second chip position behind only Nikita Kuznetsov. Big names fell early, with two-time Card Player Player of the Year award winner Stephen Chidwick (8th – $82,000) and five-time Triton champion Danny Tang (7th – $114,000) being the first to head to the rail.

Lasouski then eliminated Daniel Rezaei (6th – $156,000) to make him the leader heading into five-handed action. His A-2 suited held against the J-10 of Rezaei on an ace-high runout.

World Poker Tour champion and bracelet winner Dylan Linde got all-in with A-2 suited against the K-J of Lasouski, who made two pair to win the pot and narrow the field to four.

Samuel Ju had been left on fumes before Linde was knocked out, with his A-8 suited losing an all-in to the pocket jacks of Kuznetsov. He was soon all-in with for just more than a single big blind with A-J facing A-Q suited for Lasouski and A-5 for Kuznetsov. Ju flopped a pair of jacks and held to win the main pot, while Lasouski’s ace-queen high earned him the massive side pot. Kuznetsov finished fourth for $253,000.

Recent Triton Montenegro kickoff event champion Chris Moneymaker was left as the short stack. He shoved from the button for around 8 big blinds with J-3 and Ju called from the big blind with K-10. Neither player improved and Moneymaker was knocked out in third place ($311,000). He managed to cash in each of the three events that have wrapped up so far this series, accumulating more than $1.26 million across the trio of deep runs. The 2003 World Series of Poker main event champion now has more than $7.3 million in career tournament earnings.

Heads-up play began with Lasouski holding 22,075,000 to 8,100,000 for Ju. Not too long after being down nearly a single big blind, Ju managed to battle his way into the lead with the title on the line. Lasouski edged his way back in front in time for the final hand. He looked down at QQ after Ju limped the button with 86 for 600,000. Lasouski raised to 2,000,000 and Ju called. The flop came down J63. Lasouski bet 1,500,000 and Ju called with second pair. The 9 rolled off on the turn and Lasouski fired another 3,500,000. Ju called and the 9 completed the board. Lasouski moved all-in and Ju, after plenty of thought, made the call for his last 6,800,000. Lasouski revealed his overpair to secure the pot and the title. Ju walked away with $452,000 as the runner-up.
