|
The first three preliminary events of the World Poker Finals at Foxwoods have attracted staggering numbers.
The first event was a $260 buy-in no-limit hold'em shootout event that had a prize pool of more than $347,000 as a result of the 1,369 entrants. Michael Luciano Polera won a first-place prize of nearly $84,000.
The next event was a $530 buy-in seven-card stud event which featured a more than $471,000 prize pool. John Suttie defeated a field of 238 players to win the nearly $43,000 first-place prize.
As the trend has been for the past few years, no-limit hold'em events attract more players than other variations of poker. True to form, the $530 buy-in no-limit event, the third event in the series, had 938 competitors. The prize pool amounted to more than $484,000. John Trifone won almost $135,000 for first place.
