Karl Stoss, general director of Casinos Austria, has told newspaper Weiner Zeitlung that the state-run online poker room will be up and running “shortly” on its gaming platform Win2Day.at.

"Poker is booming," he told the paper, "and we had a 300 percent increase in poker profit in 2007."

Casinos Austria purchased the technology for its poker offering from Sweden’s Svenska Spel and Boss Media. The paper quotes Stoss as saying Casinos Austria would impose a weekly limit of €800 in bets by an individual (which also apply to poker) as part of its effort to fight addiction to gambling.
