The first event of the Borgata Winter Open followed the trend of opening tournaments attracting huge fields, as it has for the past few years. Event No. 1, a $300 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournament, had a prize pool of almost $495,000 from 1,649 entrants.

Justin Peckholdt from Babylon, New York, won more than $93,000 for first place after defeating Alexander Cukar heads up. Cukar took home just under $70,000 for his efforts.

The Borgata also announced a unique addition to the first-place prize in the $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour main event, which begins Jan. 27. On top of the prize-money and coveted WPT title, the winner will receive a custom-built Harley-Davison Street Glide motorcycle from Harley-Davidson Millville/Wildwood.
