The championship event of the World Series of Poker Circuit event at Harrah’s Rincon started Tuesday with 148 players plunking down $5,000 to try to win the $229,000 grand prize. This is the seventh WSOP Circuit event of the 2007-2008 season, and six more are scheduled through the end of May.
The winner also receives a ring and entry into the 2008 WSOP main event.
Play started yesterday and played down to 24. At the end of the first day, Kenny Bedoya, a local from San Francisco, is the chip leader with a whopping 438,400 in chips. He holds a nearly 190,000 advantage over second place Peter Neff. Michael Pickett ranks third with 215,200. No other player of the remaining 24 has greater than 174,000 in chips.
The tournament starts up again at 3 p.m. PT today. Some of the players still in it include Gavin Smith (99,600), Vanessa Rousso (89,800), Lee Watkinson (87,500), and Theo Tran (55,000).
The final table is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
