Men Nguyen Wins Third 2008 L.A. Poker Classic PrelimStill Second in This Year's Card Player Player of the Year Race |
|
Men “The Master” Nguyen is dominating the L.A. Poker Classic. Not only is he the only player to win more than one event, but he has just won his third. Nguyen won event No. 20, a $2,500 buy-in limit hold’em tournament. First place was good for almost $43,000. Since the event only attracted 52 players, no Card Player Player of the Year (POY) points were awarded, but Nguyen still has the second-place spot comfortably in his grip.
His other two wins did contribute to his current POY score. Event No. 14, a $1,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em event, gave Nguyen nearly $82,000 and 480 points for his win, while event No. 10, a $300 buy-in seven-card stud eight-or better tournament, added more than $15,000 to his winnings and 204 points.
