Phil IveyFive-time World Series of Poker winner and recent World Poker Tour champion Phil Ivey donated $50,000 to Empowered 2 Excel (E2E), a faith-based academy in Las Vegas.

Ivey also announced his commitment to the Budding Ivey Foundation. Partly named after his late grandfather, Leonard “Bud” Simmons, who was known for his philanthropy, the Budding Ivey Foundation is headed by R. Winston Morgan, with Phil’s mother, Pamela Ivey, serving as treasurer. The organization’s non-profit status is pending, but it plans to assist a number of programs, including E2E.

The E2E Academy is a developing organization focused on encouraging academic excellence, social growth, and healthy lifestyles through educational programs for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Inspired by Oprah Winfrey’s South African Leadership Academy for girls, the non-profit organization offers gender-specific curriculums and reduced class sizes.

E2E is currently accepting enrollment, as well as sponsorship and donations. For more information on E2E, visit the website by clicking here, or contact Angela Rawls at [email protected]. Details on the Budding Ivey Foundation can be found by contacting Pamela Ivey at [email protected] or LaTosha Perry at [email protected].
