Rupinder Bedi Wins British Poker Tour Nottingham

Leicester Man Grinds Out Win for £27,000

Nottingham was the second stop on the Gala Casinos British Poker Tour 2008 over the weekend with 224 players paying £500 + £50 to participate in the three-day event. The sponsor added £5,000 for a total prize pool of £118,000 and after two day one’s, a tense day two where the bubble burst at 20 and day three where the final table of nine played out for the lion’s share of the money.

The final table with chips counts and seat numbers at the start of the day was:Rupert Bedi

Seat 1: Daniel Byrom — 315,000
Seat 2: Dave Maudlin — 247,500
Seat 3: Gordon McArthur — 98,000
Seat 4: Richard Howe — 329,000
Seat 5: Rupinder Bedi — 269,500
Seat 6: Steve Milton — 111,500
Seat 7: Thomas Rutter — 318,500
Seat 8: Luong-Huu Bui — 216,500
Seat 9: James Keys — 340,000

By the time the first five players had been knocked out the final four flattened the payout structure.

First: £27,000
Second: £22,000
Third: £17,000
Fourth: £12,500

Thomas Rutter busted in fourth place and Luong-Huu Bui was eliminated in third.

In the final hand of the evening James Keys raised to 95,000 and Rupinder Bedi pushed. Keys called but his A7 was behind his opponents A9. The board came T95JJ and Bedi was crowned champion.

He said after his victory, “It feels brilliant, I feel great, it’s not just the money, it’s everything else, the trophy, the trip to Bristol and, of course, the bragging rights!”

The next stop on the Tour is Bristol from June 18 to 22.
