It was announced today that the world’s largest online poker site, PokerStars, is opening a live poker room in Macau tomorrow. The appropriately named PokerStars Macau will boast a 250-person capacity and be located inside the Grand Waldo Hotel and Casino in Cotai.

The first official shuffle in the new room will take place in a No-limit Texas Hold’em Charity Poker Tournament to raise money for earthquake relief desperately needed in Western China as the result of a recent tremor. The recommended donation is $2,000 HKD, and players will compete for $150,000 HKD in prizes, including entries into the $25,000 buy-in Asia Pacific Poker Tour event in Macau, scheduled for September.

The charity tournament will be the first event in the Macau Cup, which will feature a $1,000 HKD buy-in deep-stack event, as well as a $10,000 buy-in Red Dragon event this weekend. At the culmination of the Macau Cup, the poker room will have regularly scheduled daily tournaments and a variety of cash games.

Players can also take advantage of a special PokerStars deposit bonus through Card Player.
