Thirty Finnish poker players have received letters from Vero, the Finnish tax authority, asking them to declare their winnings from poker, according to a report today by Gaming Intelligence Group.

Winnings from poker outside of the European Economic Area, which Finland is a member of, are liable to tax in the country and it is believed the strategy of perusing poker players will expand in the coming months.

The report said authorities monitored poker media websites to gather information on the tournament winnings of players.
