Nancy CartwrightAlthough the notorious character of Bart Simpson on the FOX hit The Simpsons is known for being quite selfish, the person behind the curtain who brings him to life is nothing of the sort. Actress Nancy Cartwright, most famously know as the voice of Bart Simpson, is hosting a charity poker tournament called Monte Carlo Night at her home in Northridge, California, on Saturday to benefit the LAPD Devonshire Police Activity League Supporters (Devonshire PALS).

The tournament is open to the public for a donation of $500. The tournament begins at 6 p.m., but guests can take part in a poker boot camp at 5 p.m. led by 2006 WSOP ladies event champion Mary Jones or a blackjack boot camp led by Dorian Harewood. Among the guests expected to attend are poker pros Kristy Gazes, Todd Brunson, Jerry Yang, and Jamie Gold, as well as celebs John Travolta, Brad Garrett, and Kirstie Alley. The top five finishers will receive seats into a World Series of Poker satellite tournament.

Non-poker players can also attend the event for $250. In addition to the tournament, there will be a cigar bar, dinner, entertainment, a silent auction, and an open bar.

The organization at hand, Devonshire PALS, is dedicated to bringing local at-risk teens and children school- and weekend-enrichment programs in order to create positive relationships between the young and the LAPD.

For those who would like to take part in the event, contact Jo-Ann Geffen by phone at (818) 905-5511 or e-mail at [email protected] to RSVP.
