A total of 532 entrants paid €4,000+€300 to play the PokerStars.com European Poker Tour Hungarian Open at the Sofitel Hotel in Budapest. Another sellout field for the organizers and a juicy prize pool of €2,128,000 for the players.

Some of the faces attending included Alex Kravchenko, Marty Smyth, William Thorsson, Noah Boeken, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Fabrice Soulier, Alan Smurfit, Johnny Lodden, Julian Thew, Casey Kastle, Michael Keiner, Thomas Fougeron, Anthony Lellouche, George McKeever, Max Pescatori, Per Hildebrand, Dario Minieri, and George Danzer.

Frenchman Anthony Lellouche was dominating his table from early on. Sitting on just under 30,000 coming up to the Anthony Lellouche15-minute break at the end of level 2, this is one young gun to watch in the future. In an astounding performance in London, he took home $143,039 for eighth place, and he seems eager to hit the bullseye on this year's PokerStars.com European Poker Tour.

Recent World Poker Tour Festa al Lago winner Bertrand "Elky" Grospellier doubled up in level three to more than 20,000 with A-A vs 7-7.

William Thorsson took a big hit after going all in with K Q. He managed to survive with just king high versus his opponent's Q 9. However, it was a sad state of affairs as he still had a meager 4,000, even after doubling up.

By level four Lellouche, was cruising, and it was impossible to walk past his table without seeing some form of action, usually involving the man himself. Raising preflop to 1,700, he got two callers, and the flop dropped 10 8 2. Lellouche reached for his stack once again, this time for 2,500. Seat 3 called, and the other player got out quick. The turn came the J, and Lellouche took a step backwards. After checking, seat 3 went all in for a further 2,450, but Lellouche decided enough was enough and backed out. At this stage, he could afford to do so, sitting up among chip leaders going into the next break.

Bertrand Fabrice Soulier took a big dent in his ambitions, down to 6,000 in chips, while Grospellier lost a chunk, as well, and was sitting with 9,000. His tablemate Sebastian Ruthenberg had 12,825. Around this time, Max Pescatori busted out of the tournament. Grospellier did not make it to the final level, either.

In level 7, Lellouche called an all-in bet for 10,200 and turned over K 10 to find his opponent holding A Q. The board ran out A J 7 4 2, and Lellouche was perilously short-stacked. He busted out soon after.

At the adjoining table, one Italian player was dealt pocket aces twice and showed them to the table both times after chasing away all of the limpers and raisers with an all in each time. "Next time, you pay to see," he grinned. At the same table, Per Hildebrand, with fewer than 10 big blinds, finally got his chips into the middle with 10 9 and was up against a pair of twos, which turned into a set on the flop, sending Hildebrand to the rail.

Others who busted during the course of the day were Dario Minieri, George Danzer, Thomas Fougeron, Vicky Coren, Fabrice Soulier, Pascal Perrault, Julian Thew, Davidi Kitai.

Day two will see both fields combine with 88 players from day 1A and 95 from day 1B, and they will then get down to the serious business of trying to make some money. The total payouts are:Dario Minieri busted mid-session
