Martin Silke, a 30-year-old from Castlebar, Ireland, has won the £1,500 buy in Grosvenor UK Poker Tour London main event, beating 397 other players to take home the £172,850 top prize.
Silke faced a formidable final table which lined up:
Seat 1: Simon Eastwood -- 421,500
Seat 2: Andreas Hagen -- 206,500
Seat 3: Cuong Tran -- 331,000
Seat 4: Chaz Chattha -- 308,000
Seat 5: Sam Oatley -- 604,000
Seat 6: Jamie Brown -- 636,000
Seat 7: Dave Colclough -- 545,500
Seat 8: Luke Trotman -- 878,000
Seat 9: Martin Silke -- 945,500
Veteran Dave Colclough was first out, followed by Eastwood, Hagen, Chattha, Chan, Brown and Oatley to leave Silke and Trotman to duel for the title, the Champion of Champions ticket, and top prize.
The heads up game lasted 90 minutes with Silke's A-K ultimately being well ahead of Trotman’s A-4 on a board of A-9-7-J when all the money went in. ISilke's hand held up and Trotman had to be content with the £103,000 second spot.
Silke now goes on to play the Irish Open back in his home country.
GUKPT London featured eight side events including the £2,500 buy in London Heads Up Championship which saw Tom Bentham top the field of 16 runners over Richard Gryko to lift the £20,000 first prize.
Next stop on the tour is from Apr. 18 to 26 at Manchester’s G Casino, where last year Marc Goodwin won the event.
