The main event of the fifth leg of the 2009 Grosvenor UK Poker Tour begins today at 2 p.m. (BST). The £1,000 + £60 buy-in event will run until Sun., May 24 at the Grosvenor casino in Newcastle.
Last year’s winner was Ganesh Rao, a doctor originally from Sheffield, who trumped a field of 189 to lift the first prize of £57,175.
The previous leg of the event in Manchester saw Simon Moorman, father of Chris “Moorman1” Moorman, beat a field of 298 to take the top prize of £88,630. The next stop on the BlueSqPoker.com sponsored Tour is Luton.
