The PokerStars.net Australia and New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) is due to hit Queensland’s Conrad Jupiter casino from Aug. 5 to 9 for its final stop. Tabcorp’s South East Queenland Casinos and PokerStars.net announced the news today, which means that Queensland will get its first ever major poker tournament.
ANZPT spokesperson, Danny McDonagh, said, “We are very excited to be able to add Queensland to the Tour. We have really covered the major casinos in the region by adding both Conrad Jupiters and Conrad Treasury.”
The first two days of the $2,500 (AUD) buy-in event will play out in two casinos simultaneously — Conrad Treasury in Brisbane and Conrad Jupiter in the Gold Coast – with a maximum of 300 players and an approximate prize pool of $750,000.
Freerolls will be taking place for this event on PokerStars.net in the coming weeks.
The previous leg of the Tour was Melbourne and that was taken down by Chris Levick. Levick earned (AUD)$158,050 and 528 Card Player Player of the Year points for the win. The Tour reaches Queenstown this Saturday, Jul. 20, for the penultimate battle.
