Danny 'Brotha D' Leaoasavaii has been crowned ANZPT Darwin ChampionNew Zealand hip-hop icon Danny ‘Brotha D’ Leaoasavaii has transitioned from dropping beats in the studio to simply beating opponents on the felt.

Back in September, Brotha D won the Pokerstars-sponsored Asia Pacific Poker Tour Auckland celebrity tournament to receive entry into the NZD $3,000 buy-in APPT Auckland main event. After five days of play, the 40-year-old New Zealand native won the main event, too, earning NZD $170,000 for the biggest cash of his career.

It appears he wasn’t done there. Just six weeks after his success in Auckland, Brotha D has won another main event, this time the $2,200 buy-in Australia New Zealand Poker Tour (ANZPT) main event in Darwin, Australia.

After surviving day one of the ANZPT Darwin main event, Brotha D entered a $550 side event in the SKYCITY Darwin Casino and won it. Four days later he continued what he started and rolled through the main event to be crowned ANZPT Darwin champion, earning $57,000.

With the win, Brotha D has become the only player ever to win both APPT and ANZPT titles. He is also the first non-Australian to win an ANZPT championship.

Falling just short of the ANZPT Darwin main event final table was Tony Hachem, who was eliminated in 10th place. Nevertheless, Hachem’s overall performance this season earned him a place in the history books, as he won his second straight AZNPT Player of The Year honor.

Here’s a look at the ANZPT Darwin final results:
