With tickets selling like wildfire for the Boylepoker.com International Poker Open, the site has today announced that it is releasing 200 more seats for direct buy-in, 100 for each starting day. The event kicks off at the Regency Hotel in Dublin on Oct. 16 and plays out for three days.

The Open is Europe’s largest poker tournament and has the capacity for 1,300 players, but with the first 1,000 seats almost all sold out, the decision was made to add some more for direct buy-in. 847 players are now registered, and it won’t be long before the only way to play in the event is to qualify online at the site.

Head of poker at the site, Paul Spillane, said, “We’ve made the last minute decision to release more seats for direct buy-ins due to popular demand and the speed with which the remaining seats were selling out. This will be the last chance for people to buy-in directly and will enable more players to book flights and accomodation well ahead of the event while giving them more choice on the day they wish to play as well as the chance to accumulate the extra chips.”

These “extra chips” Spillane mentions are a new feature added to the event this year, which see players at the site get the chance to add to their starting stack in the months running up to the event. This addition has received mixed feedback, leading Spillane to discuss it openly, and explain the thought process behind it.

Those who planned on trying to qualify for the $225 + $25 buy-in event, can do so for as little as $5. At 8.30 p.m. (BST) every Monday and Wednesday, there is a $5 + $.50 satellite with one rebuy and one add-on. Here there will be a ticket up for grabs to the super satellite for every $27.50 in the prize pool. This $25 + $2.50 freezeout super satellite takes place every Friday at 8.30 p.m. and awards one day 1B IPO ticket for every $250 in the prize pool.

Additionally, there is a $10 + $1 satellite on Saturday at 8.30 p.m. with one rebuy and one add-on, which also sees a seat into day 1B for every $250 generated.

For those interested in playing day 1A of the event; Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday are the days to play online. At 8.30 p.m. on both Sundays and Tuesdays there is a $5 + $0.50 satellite with one rebuy and one add-on taking place, and this then feeds into Friday’s $25 + $2.50 super satellite. One day 1A ticket will be up for grabs for every $250 in the prize pool.

Last year, Irishman Ruairi Coy took down the top prize of €37,530 from a total prize pool of €205,000.
