WPT Legends of Poker Day 2Steven Begleiter Leads For Second Day in a Row |
|
Day 2 of the WPT Legends of Poker main event has come and gone, and things are beginning to get very interesting for those still in contention at the Bike.
The first day showcased World Series of Poker November Nine member Steven Begleiter tearing through his opponents and amassing a monster stack well above the rest of the field. Sunday was no different, and the 47-year-old continued to dominate, finishing the day with 426,100 and the chip lead.
Sitting with 382,700 is Prahlad Friedman. His day got off to a quick start when he flopped quad queens against Matt Marafioti’s pocket aces. Friedman kept the gas on throughout the night and ended the day in second place overall.
Interestingly, another November Nine member also turned heads with stellar play and a steady climb up the leader board. Much like he did in the WSOP, Kevin Schaffel spent much of the day taking down pots without very many showdowns. With 152,000, he enters day 3 with an above average chip count.
The field was trimmed from 183 to 73 over the course of five levels, but a slew of notable professionals are still alive and well, including Prahlad Friedman, Bryan Devonshire, James Mackey, Jonathan Little, Toto Leonidas, Nick Schulman, Greg Mueller, Eugene Katchalov, Adam Levy, Men Nguyen, Lee Markholt, Scotty Nguyen, Allen Kessler, and Daniel Negreanu.
Only the final 27 players will make the money, so be sure to check out Card Player’s live updates starting at 3 p.m. PT to find out how they fare.
