Online Poker -- Terrence Chan, ElkY Win WCOOP EventsChan Wins His Third Short-Handed Limit Hold'em Title at PokerStars |
|
If Friday was any indication as to the excitement this weekend will provide at the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), then the main event will be a real show-stopper. Events no. 36-40 provided some of the highest profile winners of the series.
One of the more consistent online players is Brent “Astrolux85” Roberts. The young pro banked $230,480 for taking down a short-haned $500 rebuy tournament. It was the second largest score of his career, the largest being a WSOP circuit Event in Atlantic City.
Team PokerStars Pro picked up their second win of the series when Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier won event no. 38, another no-limit hold’em with rebuys. Grospellier added $232,730 to his career totals and proved that he can still dominate on the virtual felt.
The biggest story on Friday came from Terrence “Unassigned” Chan. At the Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP), Chan took down two events, both in short-handed limit hold’em. Amazingly, he did it again in the exact same event. Chan beat Cesar “makavelyces” Fuentes heads-up for $83,030.
Adding a little variety to the series, event no. 40 featured no-limit Omaha eight-or-better. Chris “PiMaster” Viox was the last man standing and earned a payday of $42,263.
