Boylepoker.com today said direct buy-ins to the upcoming International Poker Open 2009 had sold out and the only way for players to participate in the $225 + $25 event was by qualifying online at the site.
So far 1,271 players have registered for the event, taking place at the Regency Hotel, Dublin from Oct. 16 to 18. Last year the event attracted a then-record for live poker tournament attendance outside the USA of 1,300 players. This record was then broken by the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure and the IPO now has to top 1,347 to create a new high water mark.
Paul Spillane, head of Boylepoker.com said, “We’re delighted to have sold out the direct buy-ins almost three weeks before cards are in the air but there are still plenty of opportunities for players to qualify through our online satellites. Also expect some more announcements before the biggest game in town gets underway!”
Players can now qualify for day 1A of the $25,000 added no-limit hold’em tournament from just $5 + 50c in the the Sunday and Tuesday $5 + $.50 feeder satellites with one rebuy and one add on at 8.30 p.m.
These qualify players for the weekly Thursday $25 + $2.5 freezeout super satellite where one ticket awarded for every $250 in the prize pool.
Just two days remain for players to acquire the 250 VIP points they need to top up their starting stacks by 1,000 chips.
