World Poker Tour Marrakech Main Event Begins FridayThe WPT Makes its First Stop in Africa for a Poker Tournament |

The World Poker Tour is venturing into Africa for the first time when the WPT Marrakech €4,500 no-limit hold’em main event begins on Oct. 18. The tournament is being hosted at the Casino de Marrakech in Morocco. Players will begin with 20,000 in chips, and participation in the event is capped at 350 players. Levels will be 60 minutes long. The tournament is scheduled to run for three days, and the final table will take place on Sunday, Oct. 18.
The tournament stop will host a total of seven poker tournaments. Tare Lagerborg was the winner of event No. 1 (€900 no-limit hold’em), while Rigal Jean Christophe won event No. 2 (€500 no-limit hold’em). There was also a €9,000 no-limit hold’em high-roller event (event No. 3), which was hosted on Oct. 12 and was won by Ross Boatman (pictured above left), who took home €150,000 for topping a field of 45 players. Professional players who are expected to play in the main event include Liz Lieu, Ross and Barny Boatman, Anthony Lellouche, Scott Montgomery, and Ludovic Lacay.
