Foxwoods Resort Casino announced the schedule for the Mega Stack Challenge XVII today. The tournament series will run from August 17-23, and it will include three tournaments, a $340 no-limit hold’em event on Tuesday, Aug. 17, a $560 no-limit hold’em event on Aug. 19, and the $1,650 no-limit hold’em main event on Aug. 21.
The Mega Stack Challenge will also include two big-name hosts in Chris Moneymaker and Darvin Moon. Foxwoods spokesman Bernard Lee will also be at the tournament.
“The beauty of the Mega Stack is that you’re able to play real deep stack poker…we have a $340 event where you get 15,000 [starting stacks], the $560 event has 20,000, and the main event has 40,000 for relatively lower buy-ins. You don’t have to have such a huge bankroll to play chip-wise, like your playing in a big-time main event,” said Lee.
Lee was also very excited to bring two of his friends in the poker community to New England. “They’ll be playing in most of the events, and you can play with them. You will have the opportunity to participate in some meet and greets with them and they will sign autographs. They’ll be there playing in some sit and goes and cash games,” said Lee about the availability of Moneymaker and Moon to fans and players. He continued, “Basically, if you ever wanted to meet two people that are really the salt of the earth poker players. Chris Moneymaker, who started it all, and Darvin Moon, the people’s player, if you ever wanted to meet these players and talk with them here is your opportunity.”
