Phil CollinsDay 2 at the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker $5,000 no-limit hold’em main event began at 1 p.m on Sunday, August 22. A total of 241 players joined the action and at the end of the night just 60 remained.

Phil Collins (pictured right) is the overnight chip leader with 898,000 after starting the day with just 13,000 and an empty stomach. He was up most of the night before day 2 with a bout of food poisoning. His sickness made today’s performance even more impressive. A poker version of Michael Jordan playing in Game 5 of the NBA Finals with the flu in 1997 and scoring 38 points to lead the Chicago Bulls to victory over the Utah Jazz.

Collins was at his best at the end of the night, when he eliminated two players during the final level of play. Here are the hands from Card Player’s live reports:

Eric Blair Eliminated by Phil Collins

Eric Blair raised from the cutoff and Phil Collins reraised from the big blind before Blair reraised all in to 100,000. Collins made the call and they flipped over their cards:

Blair: AClub Suit QSpade Suit
Collins: QClub Suit QHeart Suit

Board: 5Diamond Suit 4Heart Suit 3Heart Suit JSpade Suit 9Diamond Suit

Collins held 625,000 after the hand and Blair was eliminated from the tournament.

Justin Young Eliminated by Phil Collins

Phil Collins raised to 6,000 under the gun and Justin Young made the call. The big blind jumped into the pot as well and the flop was dealt 9Heart Suit 6Heart Suit 5Diamond Suit. Action was checked to Young, who bet 11,000, and the big blind made the call before Collins check-raised to 50,000 total. Young then reraised all in for 100,000 and the big blind mucked. Collins made the call and they flipped over their cards:

Collins: 5Heart Suit 4Heart Suit
Young: 6Spade Suit 6Club Suit

Turn and River: 7Club Suit and JHeart Suit

Collins won the hand with a flush and he built his stack to 800,000. Young was eliminated from the tournament on the hand.
