Online Poker -- Gus Hansen Winning Online after Capturing First BraceletRecent WSOPE Bracelet Winner in Midst of Upswing |

Earlier this week cash-game pro Gus Hansen crossed his name off of the unofficial best-without-a-bracelet list by winning event No. 4 (£10,350 no-limit hold’em high roller heads-up) at the 2010 World Series of Poker Europe. However, his profits online on Tuesday surpassed the $444,925 he won for his first career bracelet.
Hansen had been struggling online of late, but it seems his recent tournament win might be the catalyst to turning things around. Hansen booked a win of more than $500,000 on Tuesday against the likes of Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Di “Urindanger” Dang.
A large portion of the profit came in a particular $300-$600 pot-limit Omaha hand on Full Tilt Poker. Hansen had the button with the K 10 9 6 and raised to $2,400. Dwan was in the small blind, and he called with the K Q J 2. Dang three-bet to $9,900 from the big blind with the A Q J 9, and both Hansen and Dwan called. The flop came Q J 7, and Dwan checked.
Dang bet $29,700, and Hansen raised to $53,215, putting both his opponents all in. Dwan called for just under $50,000. Dang called all in for just under $49,000. The 8 fell on the turn, giving Hansen the nuts. The river brought the harmless 3, and Hansen raked in the $177,559 pot.
Another one of the biggest winners over the past seven days has been cadillac1944. The unknown high-stakes regular won multiple pots worth more than $500,000 this past week.
At $300-$600 pot-limit Omaha late Tuesday night, Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies was in middle position and raised to $3,000. Patrik Antonius was next to act, and he made the call. Cadillac1944 was directly to Antonius’ left, and he three-bet to $13,300. Action was folded to Sahamies. He called, and Antonius called. The flop came 10 5 2, and both Sahamies and Antonius checked.
Cadillac1944 bet $41,600, and both his opponents called. The turn brought the 8. Sahamies bet $166,400, nearly putting himself all in. Antonius called, and cadillac1944 called all in for slightly less than Sahamies’ bet. The 7 fell on the river. Sahamies bet $4,615 to put himself all in, and Antonius made the call.
The cards were exposed:
cadillac1944: K K 4 2
Patrik Antonius: 7 6 4 3
Ziigumnd: A J 10 8
Cadillac1944 scooped $644,952 with a flush on the river. According to Card Player’s Omaha odds calculator, cadillac1944 wins more than half the time on the flop and has the best odds of winning on the turn, even when Sahamies improves to two pair.
Even though cadillac1944 was running hot, there was one opponent who was able to slow down his ferocious upswing.
Andreas “Skjervoy” Torbergsen booked the most lucrative day over the past week thanks to a $600,000 win versus cadillac1944 and a $100,000 session from Sahamies.
At $500-$1,000 pot-limit Omaha late Tuesday night, Torbergsen had the button and raised to $2,500. Cadillac1944 was in the big blind, and he called. The flop came 6 5 5, and cadillac1944 checked.
Torbergsen bet $3,000, and cadillac1944 three-bet to $14,000. Torbergsen called, and the turn brought the K. Cadillac1944 bet $33,000. Torbergsen raised to $75,000, and his opponent moved all in for just over $187,000. Torbergsen called, and the K fell on the river. Torbergsen exposed the K J 10 5 and was on the right end of the cooler versus the J 8 6 5 of cadillac1944. Torbergsen raked in the $407,146 pot.
Even though Torbergsen and cadillac1944 won the majority of the massive pots in the online world over the past week, nosebleed regulars such as Antonius, Phil Ivey, David Benefield, Prahlad “Prefontaine” Friedman and Dan “Jungleman12” Cates have also been in the black over the past seven days.
