On a board of AK68, Andy Frankenberger bet 3,000 from the small blind and Cliff Josephy made the call from the cutoff.

The river was the 5 and Frankenberger bet 6,000. Josephy sighed when he saw the bet and went into the tank, staring at the board in front of the dealer. After about 45 seconds, he finally mucked, conceding the pot to Frankenberger.

Josephy has less than his starting stack with 34,000, and Frankenberg is now up to 63,000.

Andy Frankenberger began heads-up play slightly out chipped but managed to win some big pots off of Phil Ivey in Level 30 to pull out in front. Frankenberger won a 1,750,000 showdown with king-high to take the lead and then took another big pot from Ivey that went to a showdown with the nut straight. That hand gave Frankenberger a sizable chip advantage heading into the final hand of the night.

Andy Frankenberger opened the button for 300,000 and Phil Ivey called from the big blind.

The flop came A54, Ivey checked, Frankenberger bet 130,000, Ivey raised to 600,000, Frankenberger shoved and Ivey called all in.

Ivey was all in for his tournament life and behind with 76 for an open-ended straight draw with a backdoor flush draw against Frankenberger’s top pair with AJ.

The turn and river were the 5 and the 5, giving Frankenberger a full house on the river to win the pot and eliminate Phil Ivey in 2nd place ($275,559). Andy Frankenberger wins Event no. 17, taking home the $445,899 grand prize and the seventeenth gold bracelet of the 2012 WSOP.

On his final hand, Eslami got it all in before the flop with KQ against phil Ivey’s 88.

Joshua Evans took a big chip lead about halfway through the last level after catching a gutshot straight on the turn, putting himself at 8.3 million to Frankenberger’s 3.2 million.

Frankenberger doubled through shortly after with A – K against A – 10 after flopping the Broadway straight to jump up to 7.7 million while Evans dropped down to 3.6 million. From there Frankenberger really began to widen the gap and eventually had Evans down to 2.5 million when he got it all in behind on a flop of J 7 5.

Evans had J 10 for top pair and Frankenbegerger had J 7 for top two pair. The turn and river were the 3 and the 2, no help to Joshua Evans who was eliminated in 2nd place ($372,498). WPT Player of the Year, Andy Frankenberger wins his first gold bracelet in Event #28 ($599,153).

Matt Stout Eliminated

Matt Stout shipped the last of his chips into the middle with A-K in the hole and Ben Klier made the call with pocket jacks. The jacks held and Stout was eliminated from the tournament. His dinner order had the awkward timing of arriving right before this happened, but he stuck around to polish off the meal table side.

Hafiz Khan Doubles Up

At the same table where Stout fell a few hands later Hafiz Khan was able to stave off the same fate thanks to pocket aces in the hole. They held against the pocket queens of Jon Eaton and Khan lives to fight another day.

Andrew Frankenberger Doubles Up

Andrew Frankenberger just kept his tournament hopes alive with pocket jacks in the hole thanks to a third jack that fell on the flop. His stack is now up to 50,000 after the hand.

Frank Kassela Confuses his Opponent

Frank Kassela raised to 2,000 from the small blind preflop and the big blind made the call. The flop fell 8 6 4 and Kassela bet 5,000. The big blind made the call and they both checked the 2 on the turn. The river fell A and Kassela bet 6,500. The big blind went into the tank for quite some time with a pained expression on his face. He eventually tossed in the chips for a call and then promptly mucked after Kassela revealed 7 4. Kassela approached 50,000 after the hand.
