Day 1A Summary SpotlightJan 23, '11 As play winds down on day 1A there are a number of notable players edging up the leader board. Erick Lindgren is out on front to pace the field and he is closing in on 200,000 in chips. Other big-name professionals who have six-figure chip counts include Patrik Antonius, Carter Phillips, and Phil Ivey. Lindgren claimed the bulk of his large chip stack when he made a full house early in the level. He moved all in on a Q 10 2 flop with pocket tens and an opponent made the all-in call with K 9. The turn brought the 5 to put Lindgren behind his opponent’s flush, but the river saw the lead change hands once again when the 5 hit the table and gave Lindgren a full house. That pot shot him up to 170,000. James Akenhead made an exit late in the day and in a very surprising turn of events, early chip leader Dan Smith has been eliminated. He was crippled on a hand where he made his opponent make an all-in call with J-9 in the hole against his J-10. The only problem was the 9-7-3 flop that sat on the table at the time. His final hand came a few minutes later when his 10-9 was dominated by pocket tens and he wasn’t able to catch up on the board. Another late casualty was former PCA champion Harrison Gimbel. He decided to move all in with pocket jacks, but an opponent was waiting preflop with pocket kings, and that was it for the young professional who has won millions.
