Pycior called with the 10 10 and found himself racing against Salsberg’s AQ .

Matt Salsberg was recently spotted taking his seat at a new table, and was kind enough to let us know how he busted on his first entry of the day.
According to Salsberg, a player limped from under-the-gun, and he limped behind him. There were two more callers before the button made it 1,900 to go. The under-the-gun player called, and Salsberg moved all-in for about 11,000 or so.
The button called with A-K, which had Salsberg’s A-Q dominated. The flop brought each player an ace, but Salsberg was unable to pair his kicker to stay alive. He’ll get a fresh 30,000 to work with, however, at his new table.

The poker player was also the executive producer and writer of the hit Showtime show Weeds.

Matt Salsberg Matt Salsberg wasn’t able to rebound.
After a player in early position limped, the cutoff raised and Salsberg moved all-in for about 900 from the big blind.
The initial raiser folded but the cutoff called instantly and turned over two black aces. Salsberg showed K7 and was going to need a lot of help to survive but the 286QQ board brought him none.
Salsberg hit the rail but still has two more shots at making Day 2.

Salsberg Folds and Left Very Short

Matt Salsberg faces a river bet of 3,000, which more than covers his entire stack, with the board reading J82K5.
“You’re just never bluffing here,” said Salsberg. “I can’t believe this. I’m going to fold king-queen with 1,600 left.”
Salsberg eventually tossed his hand into the muck and his opponent showed the J.
“You flopped a set of jacks?” asked Salsberg.
His opponent didn’t respond and Salsberg is left with just eight big blinds as he watched his chips get pushed across the table.

2013 CPPT Venetian Main Event Champion Allyn Shulman There are still several hours left to register for the CPPT Bicycle Casino Main Event, but there is already a ton of firepower in the field.
2013 CPPT Venetian Main Event champion and WSOP Bracelet winner Allyn Shulman is in the field. Her husband, and two-time WSOP Bracelet winner Barry Shulman is also playing Day 1A. His most recent bracelet came after defeating Daniel Negreanu heads-up at the 2009 WSOP Europe Main Event.
Evan McNiff, who has $1.1 million in live tournament earnings, and 2013 World Poker Tour Player of the year Matt Salsberg is also looking to make it through the day. There are currently 45 players registered for the event as the first level nears its midway point.

Matt Salsberg With just 2,800 left, Matt Salsberg moved all-in from the hijack and got called by the cutoff. Massaud Mazhari was in the small blind and called as well.
The flop came 653 and Mazhari moved all-in.
“I hope you have it,” the cutoff said and folded AJ face-up.
Salsberg showed AQ and Mazhari tabled 54.
An 8 came on the turn and a 7 completed the board. Mazhari hit a straight and Salsberg’s day 1b came to an end.

Salsberg Triples Up With the Nuts

Matt Salsberg Matt Salsberg moved all in from the small blind for his last 5,900 with the board reading 9 8 4 5 . A player in middle position took a few moments before raising to 20,000 and the button quickly moved all in for just over 10,000.
“Deuce of spades please,” said Salsberg to the dealer as he tabled 76, giving him the nut straight.
The player in middle position was drawing dead against Salsberg with his JJ, but Salsberg needed to fade the board pairing against the button’s 99. The river was the 3 and Salsberg tripled up to 25,200. The button won a small side pot and was left with approximately 10,000 in chips.

In one hand, Salsberg raised to 400 from middle position and got called by the button and small blind.
The flop came 749 and the button bet 650 when checked to. The small blind folded, Salsberg called and a 4 came on the turn. Salsberg checked again and the button bet 1,150.
Salsberg folded and his opponent showed him A9 before scooping up the pot. Salsberg is now down to about 21,000.
