The Grinder Clashes With The Master

Entering the action late, Men Nguyen was heads up against Michael Mizrachi. Nguyen bet on 4th street and the Grinder raised. Nguyen called, and did the same when Mizrachi bet on 5th street. When Mizrachi bet on 6th street, Nguyen took some time to think over the hand, eventually folding and giving the pot to Mizrachi. Their hands:

The Grinder lost a previous hand to the Master, but this hand put his chip stack back around 450,000.

Buchman Busts In 12th Place ($32,909)

A short-stacked Eric Buchman completed on third street and was called by the chip leader, Vladimir Schmelev. Buchman led out on 4th street and bet again, getting called. Schmelev connected for a pair of eights on 5th street and put Buchman all in. Buchman called and didn’t improve his buried pair of 4s, busting in 12th place.

Shortly after, Schmelev was the first to surpass one million in chips. Looks like he’s ready for another final table at the 2010 WSOP.

Dehkharghani Crippled, Out In 11th Place ($32,909)

Brandon Adams entered the day short on chips, but has since chipped up and in the process knocked out Ray Dehkharghani.

Ray called a raise from Adams on 3rd street, then called Adams’ bet on 4th street. Ray bet out on 5th and 6th street and was called. On the end, Ray slowed down and checked. He didn’t look too happy when he called Adams’ final bet. Their hands were:

Adams’ trip Jacks took a nice pot and was no longer among the short stacks, holding 400,000 in chips. Shortly after Dehkharghani got all in, again against Adams, and Adams hit a flush to send Dehkharghani out in 11th place.

Barlow Falls in 10th Place ($38,676)

Todd Barlow got all in in a three-way pot and couldn’t improve upon his pair of nines, falling to Joe Cassidy’s two pair. The hands were:

Dan Heimiller raised to 60,000 preflop and Todd Barlow made the call from the button. The flop came down 655 and Heimiller led out with 30,000.

Barlow raised the remainder of his stack into the middle and Heimiller made the call. Heimiller tabled A27Q while Barlow showed A-2-5-7.

The turn was the 6 and the river was the 6, giving each player three sixes but Heimiller took the pot with his A-Q kicker and Barlow was out.

Ivey Outduels “The Master”

Phil Ivey: A7A6
Men Nguyen: 9Q3J

Ivey was the aggressor throughout this whole hand, betting all the way from 3^rd street until the end. Nguyen continued calling despite Ivey showing a pair of aces. On 7^th street though, Men finally conceded defeat and folded to Ivey’s bet of 4,000. The hand chips Ivey up to 60,000 and slides Nguyen back to a mere 10,000, only half of yesterday’s starting stack.

Rolled-Up Rolf

Todd Barlow brought in with the 7 showing and Mickey Appleman completed with the 6. Rolf Slotboom called showing the K and Barlow came along for 4^th street as well:

Slotboom lead out on 4^th street and was quickly raised by Barlow. Appleman didn’t think much of his chances and bailed out. When the action came back around to Slotboom he 3-bet, which was matched by a 4-bet of Barlow; Slotboom capped the street. The final three betting rounds were much more straightforward: Slotboom betting out every time and every time being called by Barlow. At showdown, Slotboom unfurled (K)(K)(6) for rolled up kings. Barlow, incredulous at this twist of fate, mucked his cards. He would be eliminated shortly after.

Zeidman Meets The Dutchman

Shortly after the previous hand, Slotboom got into another big pot, this time with Cory Zeidman:

Slotboom completed on third street and called a raise from Zeidman. Slotboom amped up the aggression thereafter though, betting and 3-betting Zeidman on 4^th street, then betting again on 5^th street. Zeidman was confident his hand was good and continued calling. Slotboom checked on 6^th and, sensing weakness, Zeidman bet. Slotboom called and the pair saw 7^th street. Slotboom against checked and Zeidman made a bet. As Slotboom deliberated, Zeidman kept goading him, telling him that there was no way that he was calling. It turns out that Zeidman is just as prescient as he is gabby, and Slotboom laid down his hand. After the hand Slotboom was left with 29,000 and Zeidman 40,000. The day would only get worse though for Slotboom, as he would be eliminated a few hands later.
